Syd Hosie
Trainer
Syd Hosie established Syd Hosie Racing in 2022 and oversees all aspects of the training operation at Sandhills Farm. Horses and ponies have been part of life at Sandhills Farm for as long as Syd can remember and his passion for racing has remained throughout his life. Having owned racehorses with trainers across the United Kingdom for many years before taking out his own licence, Syd understands the importance of communication, transparency and providing owners with an enjoyable racing experience. Since establishing the yard, Syd Hosie Racing has trained over 50 winners under Rules, including success at Cheltenham and the Qatar Goodwood Festival, whilst continuing to invest in both horses and facilities at Sandhills Farm.
Grace Mogg
Assistant Trainer
Grace plays a key role in the day-to-day management of the yard and the development of the horses. Working closely alongside Syd, she is heavily involved in training, race planning and ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained throughout the operation. Her dedication, horsemanship and attention to detail make her an integral part of the team and the continued development of Syd Hosie Racing.
Shannon Mogg
Head Girl
As Head Girl, Shannon is responsible for the day-to-day welfare and management of the horses within the yard. Her organisation, dedication and attention to detail help ensure every horse receives the highest standard of care and preparation.
Shanice Monks
Travelling Head Lass
Shanice oversees the preparation and organisation of horses travelling to the races and plays an important role in ensuring everything runs smoothly on race days. Her professionalism and commitment help ensure both horses and owners enjoy the best possible racecourse experience.
Race Planning & Jockey Selection
At Syd Hosie Racing, every horse is placed carefully to give them the best possible opportunity to perform on the racecourse. When selecting jockeys, we work hard to secure the rider we believe is best suited to each individual horse and race, ensuring owners have confidence that every horse is given the strongest possible chance.
We are fortunate to have excellent relationships throughout the weighing room and are always focused on obtaining the most suitable rider available for the task at hand. We are excited to be expanding the team at Sandhills Farm and look forward to announcing the appointment of a yard conditional jockey in due course.
Experienced Work Riders
Our horses are supported by an experienced team of work riders who play an important role in their daily development and assessment. The team includes riders with experience under Rules, accomplished Point-to-Point riders and experienced horsemen and horsewomen who provide valuable feedback on our horses at home.
Importantly, all members of the riding team are capable of schooling horses over hurdles and fences, allowing us to educate and develop our National Hunt horses consistently throughout the season.
